WHO ARE WE?

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a country blessed with exceptional natural wealth. Its soils and subsoils are full of ores, oil and precious wood. However, these resources are often exploited detriment to the rights and interests of the Congolese people, who suffer from poverty, corruption and conflicts.

Faced with this situation, Congolese non-governmental organizations (NGOs) decided to unite to create the Coalition of NGOs for the Recovery of Mining, Oil and Forestry Assets of the Congolese People (CORAC). THE CORAC is an advocacy and action platform that aims to:

• Denounce illegal, opaque and abusive practices in the exploitation of natural resources in the DRC.
• Demand the return of assets misappropriated or mismanaged by national and international actors.
• Promote responsible, transparent and participatory governance of natural resources in the DRC.
• Raise awareness and mobilize the Congolese population on the strategic issue of natural resources for the development of the country.

CORAC is a coalition that includes Congolese non-governmental organizations and opinion leaders operating in the sector of natural resource governance, citizen control of public action, civic education and community action.
